Dominik Schad - How does rhythm work?

WORKSHOP

8/31/2024

9:30 am

-

11:30 am

Pavillon - small hall

A rhythm workshop for everyone - with the only German member of the cult group STOMP.

We work with Dominik's own notation system, which allows us to understand rhythm more intuitively, visualise it and divide it into different worlds. The aim is to be able to understand, feel and motorise rhythm even better after the course. To achieve this, we will not only work with body percussion, but also with various STOMP instruments such as basketballs, pipes, matchboxes, buckets and brooms. It is guaranteed to be an energetic course with lots of movement and a smile on everyone's face as Dominik demonstrates and explains, but above all we get active ourselves in small and large groups!

Dominik Schad is the only German member of the US cult group STOMP. With STOMP, Dominik plays theater and festival shows, as well as TV and radio appearances in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, England, Scotland, Iceland, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, Turkey, South Africa, India, China, Macao, Taiwan, Japan, Australia, New Zealand.

He is also a drummer with Dream Machine and the Hanover-based Orchester im Treppenhaus.

In addition to his international work as a player, he is very active in the field of teaching. Among other things, he is an author of textbooks and holds a chair for Rhythm Group Work at the UDK in Berlin.

He provides insights into his work as a member of STOMP in various formats. Here he has also developed hands-on workshops for all levels of difficulty.
