supports the Opening Night with legendary Ballet Mécanique and multimedia premiere

Our Opening Night has been declared worthy of support from "the very top"! The renowned German Federal Cultural Foundation was so interested in our Opening Night concept that it has decided to support it with a large sum! This proves that the idea is fantastic: the exceptional work Ballet Mécanique by the enfant terrible Georges Antheil for 4 grand pianos and 10 percussionists will be complemented by the world premiere of "empty rave" to mark its 100th anniversary. We have been able to win over the hip post-composers Óscar Escudero and Belenish Moreno-Gil to shed contemporary light on the theme of man in the midst of new technologies.

Our dramaturge Martin Mutschler writes in the application text:

"Moreno-Gil and Escudero and their team create the lively paradox of a reflection on rave as both an individualistic and collective counterculture and show the connections to Antheil's historical avant-garde. In times of independent artificial intelligence, they trace the emptiness at the core of technology and fill it with new communal experience.

History and the present come together and form the ideal prelude to the Überschlag Festival, which in its second edition will further establish itself as a central forum for contemporary percussion music and wants to strengthen its international networking."
