Festival-Centre Ballhof

Ballhofplatz 5, 30159 Hannover

For four days, the Ballhof becomes the festival centre of the Überschlag Festival. Concerts take place in Ballhof Eins and Zwei, while the foyer transforms into the Festival Lounge, featuring food and drinks, comfortable seating, an info desk and many little surprises.

The Ballhof is located in the heart of Hannover's Old Town at the historic Ballhofplatz. As the home of the Junges Schauspiel and the Junge Oper Hannover, the venue is part of the Niedersächsisches Staatstheater (Lower Saxony State Theatre).

The building's history dates back to the 17th century: constructed between 1649 and 1664 as a ball game house for the then-popular game of shuttlecock, it is one of the oldest secular buildings in Hannover's Old Town. Over the centuries, the Ballhof has served various purposes – as a meeting place, concert hall and theatre – and has been a venue of the Schauspiel Hannover since 1947.
