What if an entire city made music together?
At the grand finale of the Überschlag Festival, this question becomes reality. ONE CITY. ONE PULSE. transforms Ballhof Square into a giant urban rhythm ensemble.
Over the course of several days, festival visitors become part of the performance themselves.
With an Open-Air Bundle – including a simple percussion instrument and a playing guide – every participant is assigned their own rhythmic voice within the collective composition.
Using a QR code, participants gain access to a video tutorial by STOMP percussionist Dominik Schad. Step by step, he introduces the different rhythmic patterns and explains how each individual part contributes to the overall piece. Throughout the festival, participants can learn, practise and prepare whenever they like.
On Sunday afternoon, everyone comes together on Ballhof Square. Joined by professional musicians, hundreds of individual impulses merge into a large-scale community performance.
What emerges is far more than a concert. It is a shared experience – somewhere between performance, city festival and musical utopia.
A concert that can only happen once.
Yet it lives on in the people who created it together.
