Tim Collins is a vibraphonist, improviser, and a defining voice on the European jazz scene. Born in New York, he now lives in Munich and moves effortlessly between composition, free improvisation, and stylistic openness.
His playing is precise yet open, curious, and full of energy—with a clear focus on sound, the moment, and interaction. This is precisely where his particular strength lies: improvisation not as an obstacle, but as a space.
At the überschlag CAMP, Tim opens up this space and helps you overcome your fear of free improvisation. On the festival’s Thursday, he’ll demonstrate what that sounds like—with improvisationally expanded Bach arrangements, played live in the festival center.
