Jochen Schorer

Orchestra percussion

He is none other than the legitimate successor to the legendary professor Franz Lang.

As one of his talented students, Jochen Schorer quickly made a name for himself as one of the most versatile instrumentalists in the orchestral percussion world. Everything he touches begins to sound. So it is only natural that he should now take over this famous percussion class at Germany's smallest music academy and successfully continue it!

At the age of 24, he became the first percussionist with the SWR Symphony Orchestra. In September 2023, he will end his successful career there in order to devote himself fully to his new role at the State University of Music in Trossingen.

He has won various prizes during his artistic career. He was also a scholarship holder of the German National Academic Foundation.

He regularly appears as a soloist in various orchestras. He is also in demand as a chamber musician in various ensembles and formations, e.g. with the piano duo Grau-Schumacher and Patricia Kopatchinskaja and as a vibraphonist in various jazz formations. Since 2015, he has been a member of the artistic management team of the Valser Musiksommer, an annual chamber music festival in Graubünden (CH). He is a regular guest with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra and the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich.

Look forward to a wide range of input on various orchestral instruments and ask Jochen for the secret of how to be equally fantastic on all instruments! Maybe he'll tell you.
