As one of the most experienced and versatile orchestra drummers of his generation, Marc Strobel clarifies with you the most important questions about cymbals, tambourine and triangle, but also the supreme discipline snare drum may not be missing. In this short input, Marc explores the mysteries of orchestral drumming, as well as the question of the decisive details in instrument playing. Which approaches are worth pursuing more closely?

Marc Strobel is a percussionist, composer and creative director. He has been a permanent member of the Stuttgart State Orchestra since the 2016/17 season. He has won prizes at national and international percussion and marimba competitions. Even before graduating from the Musikhochschule Trossingen with Prof. Franz Lang, he had contracts with several German symphony and opera orchestras. For example, with the SWR Symphony Orchestra Baden-Baden and Freiburg, the Saarland State Orchestra and the Frankfurt Opera and Museum Orchestra. At the Berlin State Opera he was a scholarship holder of the Orchestra Academy of the Staatskapelle Berlin and played early on under renowned conductors such as Daniel Barenboim and Sir Simon Rattle.
He has been appointed several times as timpanist and percussionist in the orchestra of the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, with concerts at the Salzburg Festival, among others.
As a lecturer in master classes and workshops, such as the Boum Percussion Academy and the Music Academy of the German National Academic Foundation, he passes on his knowledge to young musicians, students and ambitious amateurs. As a composer, Strobel mainly creates ballet music for the Stuttgart Ballet, the Gauthier Dance Company and the Saarland State Ballet, among others. They have been performed in theatres in Germany, Austria, Russia, Slovenia and Cyprus, among others.
