In his workshop, the studio drummer, beat producer and author will focus on the drumset as an “anchor”, but the main topic will be the construction of creative beats. This includes the selection of inspiring sounds, supposed glitches and playing techniques as well as their arrangement and the question, which
dynamic and tonal position they should take in the sonic spectrum. Should there be time and interest, Max will also address the recording and production aspects of his work.

The following aspects will be covered by Max:
Playing on different surfaces: sound, bounce, position.
Thinking not pattern- but sound-based
Sound lengths: short or long sounds?
Sound pitches: high or low sounds?
Sound volumes: loud or soft? Effects on playing/movements/percussion tools
Sounds in context: “binding sounds” and “main sounds”.
Liking noise and even emphasizing and cultivating it if necessary.
